Hazardous Material Handling Systems and Specialty Machinery Franklin Engineering designs systems to handle solids, liquids, sludges, slurries, bulk solids, and containers. Our recent projects have addressed problematic materials such as highly volatile/combustible organic liquids and gases, elemental phosphorous, single, and double base propellants, magnesium flare composition, incinerator slag, and pond tailings. We have designed a wide range of process systems that include dredging, size reduction, classification, screening, pumping, storage, chemical reaction, and thermal treatment elements. Our in-house process, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers have worked together to solve problems in industries including chemical manufacturing and hazardous waste disposal, sediment remediation and asset recovery, and energetics manufacturing. The Franklin Engineering staff has frequently been asked to provide innovative solutions to difficult problems. Many of these projects included complete design, build, and commissioning responsibilities. We have particular expertise in the design of dredging, dewatering, and other similar slurry handling systems, explosive material cutting and conveying systems, and incinerator feed and residuals handling systems. We prefer to integrate standard industrial components into efficient systems, but are always prepared to design or specify custom equipment if necessary. Many of our projects have included the selection of used equipment to meet critical schedules, such as in prototype development, or field expedient requirements. Energetic and Reactive Materials:
